Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

This page tells you what Vinylsaur does with visitor data, in simple language. I am not a lawyer. This page is not legal advice. Some regions have specific privacy laws. Examples are GDPR in the EU and UK, and CCPA in California. For legal advice about these laws, talk to a qualified professional.

Information Vinylsaur Does Not Collect

Vinylsaur has no user accounts. Vinylsaur has no registration and no login. Vinylsaur does not collect your name, your email address, or other personal information. There is no place on the site to enter this information.

Local Browser Storage (Favorites)

The Favorites feature saves your selected artists and albums in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device only. Vinylsaur servers do not receive this data. I cannot see this data. If you clear your browser data, your Favorites list resets. If you use a different browser or device, you get a new, empty Favorites list.

Cookies & Analytics

Vinylsaur uses Google Analytics to measure site traffic. Google Analytics records which pages visitors view and how often. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. I only see combined, anonymous statistics. I cannot identify you from this data.

On your first visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject these cookies. These cookies are for analytics and advertising. They are not necessary cookies. Vinylsaur does not set these cookies until you accept them. You can change your choice at any time. Use the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

Vinylsaur uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners can use cookies to select ads. These ads can be based on your past visits to this site and other sites. Google shows personalized ads or non-personalized ads. This depends on your consent choice and your location.

Third-Party Data Sources

Vinylsaur gets music data from Wikidata, Wikipedia, MusicBrainz, Last.fm, and iTunes. This data includes artist names, birth dates, album release dates, photos, cover art, and preview clips. The Vinylsaur server requests this data directly. This data is about music, not about you. Vinylsaur does not send information about your visit to these services.

Server Logs

Vinylsaur runs on a self-hosted server, not a large third-party hosting platform. The server can keep standard web server logs. These logs can include your IP address, your browser type, and the time of your request. Vinylsaur uses these logs only for security and for troubleshooting. Vinylsaur does not use these logs for advertising or for tracking.

Children's Privacy

Vinylsaur is not for children under 13 years old. Vinylsaur does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years old.

International Visitors (GDPR / CCPA)

Vinylsaur does not knowingly collect personal data, as this page explains above. Advertising and analytics cookies must follow regional privacy laws, such as GDPR in the EU and UK, and CCPA in California. Vinylsaur sets non-essential cookies to "denied" by default. Non-essential cookies include analytics cookies and ad personalization cookies. Vinylsaur only turns on these cookies after you accept them in the cookie banner. The Reject button and the Accept button have equal size and equal visibility.
